Authentic hand woven Ghana kente cloth in shimmery navy blue. 6 Yards traditional African textile in 2 yard Pieces.
This authentic 6-yard Kente cloth is handwoven in Ghana using traditional strip-weaving techniques passed down through generations. Each pattern tells a story of heritage, pride, and African identity.
Kente is a special cultural wear that is usually worn to mark important life moments such as weddings, naming ceremonies, graduations, and royal events. Apart from personal wear, it is also perfect for gifting or cultural collections.
Authentic Kente is only made in Ghana – it is hand-woven on narrow wooden looms where rich silk and cotton yarns are interlaced; creating long strips of rich and vibrant coloured patterns that carry symbolic meaning. These long strips of cloth are then sewn together to form large, majestic cloths for royalty and special occasions. The type of raw materials used for Kente weaving include: cotton (grown in the north of Ghana), silk (very expensive and was the traditional thread used), rayon (synthetic fibre), metallic thread (sometimes added to the cloth to provide extra shine) and wool (occasionally used in contemporary kente production). Kente making requires special skills and craftsmanship, special craft and a one of a kind craftsmanship in which no two pieces of fabric made are ever exactly alike. Additionally, Kente is a very time-consuming cloth to weave by hand, which is why it’s expensive and a high-value item.
