Genuine Bolga baskets are exclusively hand-woven by the indigenous Gurune, (also known as Frafra people) of Northern Ghana. They, derive their name from ‘Bolgatanga’; a town in the Upper East Region of Ghana where the locals are popularly known for their traditional hand weaving techniques and craftsmanship.

Each Bolga Basket is made by hand, using robust wild veta vera grass (commonly known as elephant grass) that is dyed and twisted into the desired shape through traditional weaving techniques that have been passed down from generation to generation over centuries. These African baskets range from natural straw colour to all imaginable vibrant patterns and colours.
